Starting later this month, the Athol FRC will be hosting two weekly groups for parents to meet, discuss, and learn from one another:

  • Parenting Journey
    • Meeting Thursdays 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. from Feb. 27 through May 22 at the Athol FRC
    • This parent education series is for parents of all backgrounds with children aged 18 and under to:
      • Identify strengths and increase resiliency
      • Learn to tackle everyday stressors and challenging situations
      • Become more confident and optimistic about achieving personal goals
      • Increase ability to nurture themselves and their children.

  • Cooperative Co-Parenting Through Separation and Divorce: A Parent’s Guide to Putting Their Child’s Needs First
    • Meeting Wednesdays 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. from Feb. 26 through April 16 at the Athol FRC
    • Dinner and support with child care are provided.
    • Topic Include:
      • Reflection on the relationship, letting go, and positive parenting.
      • Learning your role as a co-parent and how it differs from when you were in the relationship.
      • Loyalty conflicts and how to keep your child out of the middle.
      • Peaceful negotiation instead of escalating power struggles and managing anger.
      • Communication that is more businesslike than emotionally hostile and dealing with money issues.
